Family is generally taken for granted. I know we did in some point in our lives. As we get older, we notice that our families are often not appreciated enough. After all, these are the people who will continue to love you unconditionally. They support you when everyone else turns you down. Family encourages you when you lose faith in yourself. They accept you for who you are and are willing to put up with all your flaws. Family is extremely important to us. The purpose of GG dinner planning is all about families. Without families, we wouldn’t be here today!
Monday is Family Day, so I would like to dedicate this whole week’s meals to celebrate our family. Not only that all the meals are family-friendly and healthy, they are fun and quick to prepare. We prepared most of these meals together with Glee so that she can learn about food and spend QFT (Quality Family Time) together. We hope that with a little help in the planning area, you can too have some QFT with your family on Family Day!
Here’s the weekly shopping list and meal plans:
Slow Cook Pork Roast with Brown Rice
Sausage Pasta with Bacon Edamade
Roasted Chicken with Herb Rice and Baby Mustard Green Soup
Cod with Lemon Zucchini Couscous
Happy Chinese New Year Everyone! May the year of snake bring you much joy and prosperity!
This week Glee’s cousin, Toan came to visit us from China. He’s a really good cook and he had offered to help me with making Wonton and Dumplings so that we can have them for Chinese New Year this Sunday!
We spend a full afternoon catching up and wrapping wontons and dumplings. Glee enjoyed making dumplings so much that she was there until all the dumplings were done. We made over 150 dumplings and 100 wontons. The really nice thing about dumplings and wontons are you can really preserve them in the freezer for up to a month and they make quick and easy dinners.
We made 3 different flavours of dumplings: Mushroom, Napa and Chives. What we did was do the meat mixtures all in one bowl and separate them into 3 parts and then add each vegetables to each mixture before wrapping.
To celebrate our culture and New Year, I decided to make this week an Asian week. Here’s your Weekly Shopping List and meal plans.
Wonton Noodle Soup
Chinese Pork Dumplings
Pan Fried Porgy with Oyster Sauce Greens
Corn Soup with Shrimp, Avocado and Tomatoes
Hainanese Chicken Rice
Good Morning everyone!
This week the weather has been really crazy. One day it felt like Spring (+14) and the next can go down to icy Winter (-10). I hope everyone didn’t get sick over this drastic change in weather. Speaking of drastic change, this reminds me of all the changes we go through in life. One minute we are on top of the world feeling super happy and the next we could feel really down like it was the end of the world. At times like that, I just remind myself that no matter how bad I feel, the moment will pass and I only have happy moments to look forward to. Just like the weather, there will be rainbow after rain and sunshine after a cloudy day!
The MOMpreneur Award voting phase concluded today! I just want to thank everyone who voted everyday for GG! Your love and support means the world to me! I hope we will make it to the finalist. If not, there is always next year! 🙂
Here’s your weekly shopping list and meal plans:

Pork Chop with Corn Mash and Green Salad

I hope everyone is having a great week! This week was a really cold week and so will the next couple of weeks. This makes going out less desirable which means home cook dinner is more important than ever. I’ve put together meals that will give you more energy because your body will need the extra fuel to warm up. All the meals can be prepared in advance so that you can have your dinner right on time!
Here’s your weekly shopping list and meal plans:
Pasta Roll-Ups with Chicken & Spinach
Bacon Wrapped Pork with Apple Salad
Pasta with Light Tomato Sauce Topped with Roast Chicken
Pork Tocino with Bell Peppers
You can purchase frozen Tocino straight from the grocery. This homemade version is much healthier however the pork takes 3 days to cure, so please prepare the pork at the very beginning of the week. When it comes dinner time, it will take you less than 20 minutes to have this meal on the table.
Prime Rib Roast with Corn Mash and Tomato Salad
I bought these training chopsticks for Glee and showed her how to use them. She picked it up so fast and I only had to show her once. She loved using them so much that she would even used them to pick up blueberries when she had breakfast every morning this week. Like every parent, I love seeing my own child learn. I remembered all the parents used to tell me how magical it was to see their own child learn which made all the crying and tantrum worth it. I used to think “No Way!” Now that Glee is getting into that stage I finally understood what they meant. It is just so magical that no words can really describe and one of those life experiences that I wouldn’t pass up for anything.
This week, I’ve tried to create meals with opportunities to practice using the chopsticks. Here’s the detailed shopping list and all the meal plans:
Soy Sauce Ribs with Green Papaya Salad
Spanish Chicken with Sausage and Potatoes
Kung Pao Spaghetti
Steak with Poached Vegetables & Vegetable Noodle Soup
Coriander Soy Sauce Fish
